BANGKOK, THAILAND — From July 1–3, 2026, Walmay Stainless’s Asia regional team participated in Thai Water Expo 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. At Booth LG-J43, Hall 6, we presented stainless steel materials for water treatment, municipal infrastructure, wastewater systems, coastal projects and desalination applications.

The exhibition brought together water engineering contractors, equipment manufacturers, municipal procurement teams, distributors and other industry professionals from across Southeast Asia. It gave our team an opportunity to discuss material selection, corrosion risks, processing requirements and project delivery needs directly with buyers.

Why Corrosion Resistance Matters in Water Projects

Water infrastructure does not operate under one standard set of conditions. Chloride concentration, temperature, pressure, cleaning chemicals, welding methods and surface finish can all affect material performance. In coastal areas and desalination systems, these factors make corrosion resistance especially important.

Grades such as 316 and 316L are commonly evaluated for chloride-bearing or humid environments because their molybdenum content improves resistance to pitting compared with general-purpose 304 stainless steel. However, the correct grade should always be selected according to the actual operating medium and fabrication requirements. Our guide to stainless steel in seawater explains the main factors engineers should review.

Stainless Steel Products Presented at Thai Water Expo 2026

At Booth LG-J43, the strongest interest centered on corrosion-resistant pipe, sheet and coil products for water-related equipment and pipeline projects.

316L Stainless Steel Pipe for Water and Desalination Systems

316L stainless steel pipe is commonly specified for welded piping, coastal water supply, circulation lines, process water systems and desalination equipment where chloride resistance is a key consideration. Its low carbon content also helps reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion in welded areas.

Walmay can support project-specific dimensions, wall thicknesses, surface requirements and documentation. Material test certificates and additional inspection or testing records can be supplied according to order requirements.

Stainless Steel Sheet and Coil for Equipment Fabrication

316L stainless steel sheet and stainless steel coils can be used to fabricate water tanks, filter vessels, purification equipment housings, process covers and other components exposed to wet or corrosive conditions.

Available finish and processing options can be matched to the fabrication workflow, including cut-to-size preparation, polishing and coil slitting. Final grade, finish and documentation requirements should be confirmed according to the equipment design and intended service environment.

Questions From Contractors and Equipment Manufacturers

During the three-day exhibition, visitors asked about grade selection, product standards, dimensions, surface finishes, lead times, packing, export documentation and custom processing. Many discussions focused on matching the material to chloride exposure and fabrication conditions rather than choosing a grade by name alone.

Buyers also wanted to understand how materials could be prepared before shipment. Walmay’s stainless steel processing capabilities include services such as cutting, polishing and coil preparation, helping customers reduce additional handling before fabrication.

We also reconnected with existing customers and received new inquiries for samples, technical information and quotations for upcoming water engineering projects.

What We Learned From the Southeast Asian Water Market

Thai Water Expo 2026 reinforced the importance of corrosion-resistant materials, clear technical documentation and flexible order preparation for water infrastructure buyers in Southeast Asia. Based on the conversations at the show, our team will continue to focus on:

  • Aligning 316L and related stainless steel stock with regional project demand.
  • Supporting cut-to-size, polishing, slitting and other processing requirements.
  • Preparing material test certificates, packing details and export documentation according to each order.
  • Reviewing water chemistry, fabrication methods and service conditions before recommending a material grade.
